Muyil Ruins

Muyil (also known as Chunyaxché), is one of the earliest and most enduring ancient Maya sites along the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Located just 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) to the south of the coastal Tulum, artifacts dating from 350 BC to as late as 1200-1500 AD have been discovered at Muyil.

Marvel at the ruins of Muyil, showcasing impressive Peten architecture reminiscent of southern Mayan sites like Tikal in Guatemala, featuring steep-walled pyramids.

Muyil thrived as a vital trade hub on the Caribbean. Its network of ancient canals once provided access for trade, with goods like jade, obsidian, chocolate, honey, feathers, chewing gum, and salt in high demand.
